damn I love this comic...
And Tenth has to be among my fav characters, right up there with Parinthachin, voice of the prior quote, well, except Luse's interruptions...

"Magic is fickle and finite... Once you've learned one practice to its fullest, you move on to another, or stay as content as you can...
I, and a few other of the true wizards in this world, have learned as much as possible... After that, all that time, a soul can get awfully depressed... Nothing left to learn...
Now... Life is a variable condition. It twists and turns and is, generally, unpredictable... You can learn as much as you think you can and still never know it all...
So a true wizard's saving grace becomes observing life... More specifically, lives. But even this can become a bit mundane when it is realized, after long enough, everyone is the same... The only difference is, the enviroments around us all...
Reaction to these enviroments is going to vary wildly and drastically - But within the spectrum of these reactions, most are similar, and predictable...Most poor people finding fifty crowns laying in the road will feel likely blessed and thankful, while rich people in the same place would feel it almost due..!
Children of abusive alchoolics fear their lovers getting drunk... People lie from fear... Religion is a death fixation...
And, after a time, this, too becomes a waste... So the pattern of interactions becomes a lesson about enviroments...
And fate becomes a game... So what happens when a variable exposes itself in the pattern..?"
