*beats Paranoia Agent with a ... "golden sword"*
My gods... Shonen Bat is a freakin' basket case. But so far, him and the 2 detectives... They're the most sane ones in that series.... Yay... It's a new mindfuck series. And I'm only on episode 6. At least it's only 13 episodes.
And my subject is another line from the opening song of this series. Fucked up song.
Ashley and I watched the next DVD of Abenobashi Maho Shotengai last night. 3 episodes to the series end. We were honestlyexpecting it to just be a humourous series of parody, nostalgia and bad jokes. Low and behold, episode 7, plot sets in. An actually interesting plot. And the outtakes on the DVD... The running Micheal Jackson gag in the re-dubbed scenes... *snickers* And we won't go into the Cardcaptor Sakura reference in episode 10, just watch it, and know that Kero should not have ever been blue. But yes, loving Abenobashi.
We also rented and watched the first volume of Pretear. I'd been avoiding that one because the female lead looked to floofy and submissive to me. Besides, I'm usually not much for the tradional magical girl bit, there has to be something to catch me, be it mythical referrences to research and backtrack, or a main character I don't want to slap. Actually I think just wanting to slap the main character (because they're just that stupid and/or wimpy) all the time is what turns me off to the genre. But read the back of the box last night and decided to give it a try. Bishies, and chibi adorables for the seven Leafe Knights... *^_~* *Kidnaps Hayate(Wind) & Mannen(Ice)* (I'll leave Shin(Plants) & Sasame(Sound) to Ashley.) Pleasant surprise with Pretear. Lots of humor, hints at some angst in the future, and a strong-willed main character. She yells and gets angry, and heck, she punches the Leafe Knights once or twice. But she's not just shallow in the violent-outgoing style, she cares about the knights and fights off depression over the new family bit and the loss of her Mom (She does it by distracting herself or telling herself it's just stupid, which is more like a real person). It's not a deep series, don't get me wrong (still your fairly typical magical girl fare), but I don't hate the main character, and it looks fun. So want to se the rest of Pretear, yet another 13 episoder according to animenewsnetwork.com too.
Hayate is my favorite so far, and I had to point out to Ashley, that Hawkeye's puppy in FMA is named Black Hayate. This makes me think two things... Did Hawkeye ever see Pretear, and I hope to gods there's never a fanart of her trying to put a leash on Hayate or something, I can just imagine her holding him at gunpoint and telling him he'll wear the leash or else. Or her advising the Pretear on how to discipline Hayate with a concerned looking Hayate in the background with Black Hayate. It'd be funny, but oh... so wrong.
So, Yay. ^_^
Edit: Added some stuff, fixed some glaring typos.
