.... It was a rape prevention/self defense class @ Pagan Pride Day.
Lead by the afforementioned Asatru guy.
After a brief intro, we go over to the grassy area to learn moves. I'd been told before-hand, Jaimie wasn't allowed to participate because last time she had been wearing a skirt and embarassed this guy terribly. So, when he called for volunteers (after showing the first move on Dave Baxter), I, JOKINGLY, told Jamie to go up. She did, and was once again wearing a skirt.
Poor guy was bright red.
Then, he demonstrated a second move (once again) on Dave Baxter, and then called for volunteers, and said Jamie couldn't. We waited, and none of the other girls would, so Jamie told me to go up. I figured I owed her.
It was all jujitsu based, which is what I studied previously.
So, he tells me which arm to grab, and where to place the starting foot for this choke hold. He expected me to go really slow (which really doesn't show that a move works, because you get caught up in the other person, and it looks like it would never actually work) like Jamie did. He turns his head slightly to explain what I'm supposed to do next, I bring my other foot up, follow through, and force his face into the grass. Not very hard mind you, just fast.
Everyone thought it was hilarious, because apparently his eyes went huge as he realized I was't stopping. And I apologized because I ended up doing an arm lock instead of a choke. He said it seemed like I knew what I was doing and I said "Did i not mention I took a jujitsu class a while back?" His eyes go big again and he goes on about no I hadn't, and it would've been nice to know.
We did it again so I could actually do a choke, and I ended up putting him in a different chokehold than what I was supposed to, so he told me how to tighten it, I said I shouldn't, and he told me to do it anyways. And then I couldn't see him well enough, and an audience person had to tell me he was tapping out.
^^;;
This is how I get my horrible reputation as being violent...
I swear... I took martial arts for self defense dammit. And that was, what, 4 years ago? And only like 4-6 months of training?
Given, it was Elm-sensei's speed/intensive training, but still...
