OH MY GAWD! Oh My Gawd!
My friends! The Russians ( y'know the entire country, not a company named SUP ) have bought LiveJournal!
Six Apart Announces New Home for LiveJournal
...oh. Oh! You already knew?
Someone else already posted it?
... Me. Fucking. Too.
So, this is gonna be on my Friends Page 20-million friggin' times today, isn't it?
Jesus H. Christ on a pogo stick people. A Russian company named SUP has LJ now instead of Six Apart. It is not a big deal. LJ is not somehow magically now owned by Nazis or something. Last I checked, you know two days ago, you all hated Six Apart anyways. Wasn't everyone whining about the new flagging feature and how the LJ rules weren't very internationally aware (legal ages varying from country to country and such)? Should you not be happy now? This is not even sudden. SUP has been managing LJ since October via a licensing agreement.
And you know what else?
Who cares who owns LJ? It's a big company. They'll pretty much all behave the same. However yields the best profits and least lawsuits.
So shut your traps about it unless you've got something useful to add.
EDIT: Read the article fer gawds sakes.
Live Journal, Inc., is still a US-based company. They still work out of San Francisco, California, USA. All that's changed is the parent company.
I seriously doubt there are going to be major changes like you're thinking.
To my understanding, A new news community has been created
lj_2008 to discuss and inform of any new changes in the coming year from our new Russian Overlords *hah*.
To futher prevent the obvious:
Here is thier 100 Day Plan.
And for those worried about wank being handled properly and with an international mindset, meet the LiveJournal Advisory Board.
