Post April Fools Clean-Up

So who would've ever guessed?
asatira and I pulled an April Fools prank yesterday. Haha. And evidently, we had quite a few people going on it.
To start with, this is the first collaborative art piece I've done with Michelle in AGES. So that was about 10 tons of fun even had no one believed it. But the fact that a lot of people (especially on DA --you guys were so naive about it, I almost felt bad) bought it was sheer ICING.
So this all started several weeks back. Michelle and I had been getting frustrated because participation in the Club Tutu contests had been getting less and less. And every time we asked what we could do to improve participation, we were pretty much told it wasn't us, it was them --just bad timing. Everyone was busy. Well, we get one or two the-time-period-is-too-short, but we aren't going to make a contest last longer than a month.
So we decided --after the last contest literally had only 2 entries BAAAWWW-- to let the club members choose the next theme and month of the contest. We put up polls with some options, including one "joke" option that was a combination of two of the themes. I call it a "joke" option because we were pretty sure it had NO chance of winning the vote. And it hasn't. It failed stupendously. (Even though I think it has some interesting potential.)
Somewhere around the time we posted these polls, we started playing with the idea of doing an April Fools joke. We decided that whatever theme was the Biggest Loser of the theme poll would be our fake contest theme. We also decided that the biggest hints to the fact the contest was a fake --aside from posting on April 1st and going againstt what everyone had voted for-- would be an extremely short entry period and a prize that was literally impossible and most people wouldn't want it if it was. So we both did some sketches for the promo art for this contest, but Michelle was the only one to turn out a finished, usable, attractive sketch. (I am having some serious artistic fail lately.)
Once I saw the pencils via Twitter, I asked her to send me the inks once she had them ready, and I would color the piece. She did, I did, and come late on Tuesday night, I started posting the contest announcements both on deviantART and
princesstutu.
Of course, on April 2nd, we followed up with posts to our individual DAs with the promo art announcing the joke, an update to the Club Tutu journal, and the addition of chibi versions of the PTT characters in the steampunk outfits to all of the announcement posts.
Hopefully everyone enjoyed the joke as much as we enjoyed pulling it.
It looks like a few people were inspired enough that we will be seeing some GenderFlipped SteamPunk Tutu art after all, and I look forward to it.
