Facial Scars

Mmmm... Pinched nerve -or something- yay. I have an old scar in my right eyebrow. From a water gun fight. That's right, my face is permanently scarred from a water gun battle with my little brother. I was winning up until the point I got that though. XD I think leaving the field with half your face covered in blood makes you the loser even if you were the only one with water left. He ran out of water, I didn't. I kept shooting. He lost his temper and threw his only remaining ammo at me. Water gun meet skull. Head wounds bleed a lot. Cue panicked mother and hospital trip. (Subsequently, this scar is why it's tricky for me to get my eyebrows waxed, if its done wrong, that scar becomes very obvious, because it's a small number of hairs that only barely cover this slash across the lower half of the brow.)

Anyhoo, the old scar gets this pinched feeling sometimes, and any pressure in that vicinity of my head results in very small sharp pains right around the location of the scar. So it's doing that now.
*pokes at scar* It's just a very odd sensation.

Yes, random. I just felt like sharing.

So, anybody else have scars with silly stories behind them?

I wish my own eyebrow scar had a more fun backstory, but it doesn't, but I'm a bit glad and amused someone else shares my troubles with having a scar right there. My scar doesn't hurt (thank goodness), but I have my own trouble with plucking hairs since the scar messed it up, and if I don't it's really obvious that my eyebrow is split in two. (I got my scar by falling off my bike and smashing my face into a rocky road when I was just a kid. I'm glad I don't remember it.)

Question though: Do you have trouble being able to move the scarred eyebrow as much as the normal one? My facial expressions look a bit odd since my scarred eyebrow has a more limited range of movement.

Yeah, fun story makes it better that way. I like to say, "You should do something once in a while JUST because it will make a good story later."
My issue is because it's almost horizontal through the brow, I would actually get this weird-looking cut-out rather than the brow split in half.

Not really. It might have a little less movement, but not significantly noticeable.

Evidently, I'm Harry Potter, and the scar throbbing means Voldemort is near. XD

[identity profile] ichiban-victory.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
I wasn't going to say it, but I was thinking it! ^_-

[identity profile] elfgrove.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha. Damn. I so beat Harry Potter on this bit though. MINE FIRST! ^_~

Ouch! As if regular old headaches weren't bad enough...Although I have to admit that I'm surprised the water gun was sharp and/or hard enough to do that.

I have a little eyebrow scar too, actually, though it's just a tiny pit from when I had chicken pox. My only other scar (no more than a small white dot) was gained from grappling over a dodge ball with somebody else. ^^;

[identity profile] elfgrove.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
It's not that painful, just really odd. Oh yes. 80s water guns are awesome like that. Bro also threw it like 1-0~15 feet.

Haha. Nice. As facial scars go, eyebrow ones are easy to hide.
auriga: (glomp!)

[personal profile] auriga 2009-06-09 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Explains why 90s ones were so cheap and light, then! :P

Yep, for the most part. I get much more reaction over a red birthmark on my arm that's been mistaken for everything from a burn to raspberry jam.

[identity profile] elfgrove.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha. ;)

Hmmm. Interesting. I bet that gets old, huh?

[identity profile] sonya-08.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Does that mean Voldemort is near??

[identity profile] pyro-ike.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Or perhaps a water gun? XD

[identity profile] elfgrove.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Aw heck naw. I'll kick that scrawny whining brat's butt and his pasty-ass snake-loving archenemy too. ^_~

YES.
It is my DESTINY to defeat the DARK LORD.

[identity profile] elfgrove.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Of dark wizardry. Not waterguns. Don't mock me an' my EPIK DEST1NY. ;)

hm.. I chopped of the very tip of my right ring finger while slicing cucumbers once. >.> We needed sliced cucumbers really badly... anyway, I thought it was a minor wound so I went to wrap it up in napkins and sit down, and then my supervisor came and asked me why i was so pale. So it was a bit more serious than I thought.

Then I have a V shaped scar on my forefinger cause this kid was... helping.. me cut some string. So I was holding it, and he missed and cut me instead.... Yeah, accidental? xDD

Hope your scar-ache goes away soon.

[identity profile] elfgrove.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh wow. OUCH.

Yeah. It'll be fine.

[identity profile] pyro-ike.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
I have a scar on top of my head from when I was a kid... I was playing chase with the dog (which is to say, being chased) around my parents' four-post bed. I jumped up at the wrong time and hit my head on a sharp corner (why there is a box shape halfway up the post, I'll never know). Lots of blood and a few stitches later, I was more or less alright. :P

Unfortunately I don't think there's a scar from that time a redtail clawed me at the raptor center... Didn't notice until I tried to pull my arm away from the bird's feet, and noticed that the skin was being pulled back down. >_>

[identity profile] elfgrove.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Ouchies. Yeah. They couldn't give me stitches for that one. Although they wanted to give me a few. Every time they tried, I would go into shock. So ultimately, they held it closed with some sort of tape and called it "butterfly stitches" (I shit you not). Thusly I have gone my entire life never having had stitches.

Aww. That's one that should be a scar just for the story potential.

[identity profile] pyro-ike.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
O_o Shock from stitches? That's a good enough reason to pass on them I guess. 'Butterfly stitches' does sound kinda funny, lol./. might be a good name for a band. :P

At least you didn't have to superglue it closed!

[identity profile] elfgrove.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I was just 10 or 11.
Haha. Yeah, every time the needle or the deadening shot needle got anywhere near me, I would start to go into shock. I honestly can't remember much from the hospital, and that's probably why.

Yes, butterfly stitches sounds absurd. Evidently it's a real-enough practice though. Yeah, I haven't had to glue my face back together at least.

[identity profile] pyro-ike.livejournal.com 2009-06-10 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, young age plus the whole 'needles near eyes' thing is good enough for me. :P

[identity profile] coppeliad.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
I have a scar on my chin from playing hooky in kindergarten.

For some reason I just didn't want to go to class and I decided to hide in this slide that had a covered portion at the top. But I didn't get in there before the teacher saw me and she chased me up the stairs to the slide. I slipped and bonk my chin real hard and the metal tore it up.

Oh boy did I cry.

[identity profile] elfgrove.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Ouch. I bet that teacher felt bad, huh?

[identity profile] coppeliad.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
I don't really remember that part. ^_^;;; I think I was bawling at that point.

[identity profile] asatira.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Not much of a story behind my scars. I've gotten a few small ones from the many animals I work with, most of them abrasions. Although I loved my cousin Alvetta's reaction to my description of how Aspen stepped a little wide, went past the glove and onto my upper arm, but is well-trained enough to immediately release her grip and close on the glove. All I got was a bare indention and a thin abrasion. Alvetta could only shake her head (she's not an animal person, apparently).

And remember, Aspen is a golden eagle.

[identity profile] elfgrove.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. But the fact you work with those animals is awesome all on it's own.

Ooooohhhhh. Pretty. Is Aspen bigger or smaller than Tiger (was if IV or V that was the last on to live at the War Eagle cage)?

[identity profile] rara-aves.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, you got a damn schmiss. That totally makes you the winner according to German standards.

Yeah, I got two scars. One from scraping my hand walking through a doorway in highschool, and one from a screen door that closed too fast on my leg when I was jumping in and out of FEMA trailers at my last job... fuck, I got no good stories :(

[identity profile] elfgrove.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Shiny. I'm all awesome and old-school bad-ass, in Germany.

From scraping your hand? Wha~?

[identity profile] rara-aves.livejournal.com 2009-06-11 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
It was really retarded. I was holding books about chest level at the time while talking to some people and not paying attention. Turns out a very simple and innocuous right angle at the end of a push bar on an open door can do a lot of things if you push forward into it with enough momentum.

Like I said, I was being BEYOND retarded.

My scar near my eye

[identity profile] torrinj.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, I don't have any silly stories to share, but I do have a scar.

The one on my face is from a mole I had when I was younger. The doctor thought it might be cancerous. Surgery to remove it and a couple of stitches later and I have a scar near my left eye.

[identity profile] rara-aves.livejournal.com 2009-06-12 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
On the topic of scars, here's a recent one in the news that I don't think anyone can ever be able to top.
