Yuki says, "No. Honda-san is naturally such a person." Tohru starts to help him spread the tarp again and she says, "But my mother said, to believe rather than to doubt. A person is not born with kindness. Their innate traits are, greed, gluttony, the wish to possess. In other words, they are only the basic surviving instincts. Kindness is the same as growing up; it's like the mind that grows inside oneself. It's a conscience. That's why everyone's has a different shape."
Tohru has a flash back of standing with her mother at her father's grave, Her mother says, "A desire is born at birth, so it's easy to understand. But kindness is something that everyone has to make with their own hands. So it's easily misunderstood or thought of as hypocrisy."
Tohru tells the story to Yuki and says, "After I heard that story, whenever I think of the many different shape of kindness, round or sharp, I would feel uneasy."
