     "Are you going to?"
"I'm still thinking on it. I mean, Mom won't even talk about him to me. He can't be that nice of a person."
"But your grandmother says your mom still loves him."
"I know. That's why I told the woman I need to think on it."
     "Right."
"Anyway. That's all there is to that right now. What happened to you this morning?"
"Ah... Right. I actually got a weird e-mail this morning. Something saying they knew my Mom."
     "You're joking..."
"No. Though I figured it was a prank. Plenty of people around here know my Mom skipped out on us when I was a kid." Lesley looked out the window distractedly.
     "But?"
Lesley sighed deeply and ran his hand through his hair. "But... There was a bit more to-"
"Here you go." The waitress set down the plates of fresh bacon, eggs, hash browns, and toast before them.
"Ah..." Lesley blushed and hoped she hadn't heard too much. The less people that knew, the better. "Thank you."
The waitress smiled at him cutely and set a couple of extra napkins down next to his plate. She then turned and walked away.
"I think you got a present." Kira smiled jokingly across the table at him, pointing to the napkins.
Lesley saw a phone number scribbled on the top napkin and groaned. "Why me..."

Later they sat in Lesley's apartment again, Kira sitting on the bed as Lesley pulled up the email once more.
"Got it?" Kira watched cautiously from the bed.
"Yeah. Come see." Lesley spun around in the computer chair and got up.
"Huh. alfheim.org. Weird choice for a domain name." Kira sat in the chair and skimmed over the email. "Your mom's a sidhe? They've gotta be joking."
"Yeah. That's what I thought." Lesley shrugged and turned away. "I mean, I'm not some friggin' elf changeling or some bull like that."
"Did you try this?" She leaned forward trying to catch a look at his face.
"The levitation spell?" He sounded annoyed. "Her proof that I am what she says?"
     "Yes."
"I was. Right before you came over this morning." He turned back to look at her. "It said the more magic I use, my pupils will fade out too. Because the sidhe don't have them."
"Your pupils are still there Lesley." Kira spoke in a slow and calm voice. "Did you tr-"
"It worked. I was floating." He ruffled his own hair as if trying to rub out bad thoughts. "This is insane!"
"It's okay." Kira glanced back at the computer screen. "You think you'll hear back from her again? I mean, it was only an 'I know this, and this will prove it'. She hasn't asked for anything from you yet."
"I don't know." He groaned and sat on the edge of his bed, head in hands.
"Okay." Kira sighed deeply and looked over at Lesley. "What do you want to do if she contacts you and can get you in touch with your Mom?"
"Screw it!" Lesley's head jerked up suddenly, his eyes cold.
Kira jumped a little, but met his angry glare with a worried expression.
"It's just..." He shook his head and his expression calmed. "You know how I feel about my mother. She left us. I don't want to meet a woman who'd abandon her family."
     "I understand that."
"Are you... Wanting to meet your father?"
"I'll never understand why he left if I don't."
     "I guess."
"The woman who called said she'd want to set up the meeting about a month from now. If I go, can you come with me? I mean. It's not like this something I can tell Mom. Much less ask her to come."
"I would. But... I'm supposed to be going home next month. With Dad gone most of the time, someone has to check in on Kody once in a while."
"Right. I forgot." Kira smiled. "So are you going to mention any of this to your little sister?"
"Definitely not. She's on some sort of obsessive kick about magic lately. I don't even want to think how she'd deal with this."
"Maybe follow this woman to your Mom, huh?
"Why don't you come back with me? If you're Dad's willing to come here and meet you, I'm sure he'd come to my hometown just as easily. That way you don't have to meet him alone."

alfheim .org *LOL* Since org is short for organization, I have a couple of friends that argue those two words shouldn't be used together. Of course I have a couple of others that would argue just as hard that organization is what Alfheim is about.
