The Taste of Minnesota...

I went to that today.
And they say we deep fry anything in the South. Hah!
Deep fried Oreos, Milky Way Bars, Musketeers Bars, and Cheese Curds(the stuff that floats to the top while making cheese) are all new to me.
And completely gross-sounding!
There were a couple of decent amatuer bands.
I got some watered down lemonade that cost nearly $5.
And spent most of the time over at the Kellogg's booth.
Kelloggs was promoting a new cereal, Tony's Cinnamon Krispers.
They had 4 pro inline skaters there doing tricks. 4 30 minute shows.
Now I wanted to see this. They're all bound for the Xgames in 3 weeks. Pretty cool.
So I sat under a nearby tree to listen to music and sketch two new characters who popped into my head today. They will be the next short story written for LJ. Lucifer and Gabriel. The first show started, and I walked over to watch.
Now I probably stood out a bit, watching and working in my sketchbook at the same time, and wearing my black Dave-hat, and my long white over shirt with the handdrawn dragonwings and the kanji for Shadow on the back.
After the set, one of the skaters came over to taslk to me once the crowd cleared out. Not a bad looking guy either. *laughs* ^_~ No I have no idea of the skaters' names.
He flirted with me a little, at least it seemed like he was. Then he commented so that's what you see when you're watching me skate? A girl? I had just finished drawing Gabriel. I told him no, and he smilled laughed and went back to the tent where the other skaters were.
Now if you know me, flirting or not, saying something like that is like a challenge to me. I hadn't been trying to draw them, but I did now. I went, got my lemonade, sat under my tree, and started sketching. I did a skater mid-air over a ramp, darkened the background, then erased out a set of light-wings behind the skater, and a few stray rays of light. The second set of skating started. I went and watched that, adding some detail to the sketch.
After that, they had an autograph session. I waited 'til it cleared out some. I came up and said, "I believe someone asked me what I saw when I watched you guys skate?" I smiled and winked, and handed the guy the sketch. His eyes got real big as he tookit and looked at it, then he started to hand it back and asked if I wanted them to sign it. I told him no, that I never keep pieces I do for others, personal policy. I didn't get an autographed poster either. (I mean, I admire their skill, but I'm not a big fan, so a poster isn't worth as much to me.) He turned so bright red, it was amusing, but he accepted the sketch, and I left Taste of MN.
I now have an icky farmers sunburn.
And 6 Lefts has a weekend update!
