かんだん = kandan = quiet conversation; idle talk

"There's no one who does not regret when something valuable ends... I said that once."
*Perhaps.*
"But it's not true."
*Not everything in life needs to be regretted does it?*
"Eh?"
*Some things of value... Even when they end... You do not regret them.*
"Yeah... It's sad that it happened the way it did, but it had to. And it doesn't mean it was something not worth happening."
*And regret is only for things you feel should not have happened.... Do you feel that?*
"No."
*Then there is no need to worry over not regretting it.*

You have some really interesting and wise conversations.

Live is too short. There is never time for regret. There is only time to learn from what you want to regret, learn to never let it happen again. I've always said that and I've always stood by that. Therefore I have NO regrets. But from the standpoint of having regrets and respecting those of others, then that kandan is very wise. You intrigue me more every day L-san.

Not really. I just talk and try to understand. It doesn't mean wisdom or that anything realy is understood in the end.

No... there's not time for regret, yet it exists.
I cannot say I have never regretted, it takes a wiser person than me to manage such a thing.
Heh.
I'm not so intruiging as I am dumb enough to have to have these things explained to me.

Well, in the end that seems to be all anyone can do to be wise. It's possible that's what wisdom is?

You seem to make my dusty thought/pondering gears kick into place.

I wouldn't say "dumb enough" but rather "open enough" and "eager enough" to want these things explained to you, very few come to conclusions such as these alone. And when they do it's either an instant revelation or the product of a good bit of meditation on the subject. Most are never in the situation for the revelation and are too busy actually living to meditate on living.

But now you know these things and are open to discuss them, that alone is intriguing.

I'm not so sure it would be a wiser person to manage no regrets but more of a determined or stubborn person. ;o) Then again, may be it's actually someone very weak projecting a shield so strong it even fools the psyche.

drathorin could be right. I'd say even knowing the question is wise. Knowing the answer is wise. Understanding the answer is wiser. Wanting to understand the answer is wisest.

Thinking is good for you.

Heh.
That sounds very much like an old proverb.

But the search for answers can often leave you feeling very foolish.

Thinking is what I seem to do nonstop lately. Just sitting and thinking at home while drawing. It brings me a nice peace of mind.

The outdoors helps me think too. Stupid office buildings make me want to be outside and play in the leaves and run through the tall fields.

When I get a house, it's gonna be out in the country. Erg, got off topic again. . . ..

Actually, I made it up, but if it sounds like an old proverb then cool, maybe I'm not alone in thinking that. ;o)

You can only feel foolish if you think you're the fool.
