elfgrove: (Humans...)
What a day. I cannot, for the life of me get my scanner to work.

No wait,
Start at the beginning.
I went to sleep around 2:30am this morning. Talking to everyone on AIM was a blast. Thank you. Especially Neph who dropped a message just to send a random hug. I still didn't have the Penalty for Melissa drawn. Even had fun talking to Dusty who was taunting me cruelly about anime.
Also found out from Xero that AU's Software Engineering program isn't accredited.

So I set my alarm for 7:00am.
At 7 it went off, I turned it off, rolled over, went back to sleep. Woke up at 9:30.
I had both Gundam Seed 30 and 31 downloaded, but the files wouldn't play right.
New computer, WinXP and codec issues. I searched and found the codecs I needed, and got he files working.

Started downloading a couple of other things, and penciled and inked the penalty. I couldn't find my colored pencils. I went out to my car to get my scanner, the car still isn't completely unloaded. I set up the scanner, tried to get it working, and was given driver errors. I find my colored pencils and color the penalty. I hunt down the scanner company website and download the latest driver for my scanner. Still no luck getting it operational. If I go through the add hardware instructions, it tells me that this hasn't been tested as XP approved, and I shouldn't install it 'cause it may screw up my comp....Grrrr.....

Glance at LJ, and learn that the SWEN accreditation isn't as bad off as it sounded, see here.

I then continue on my merry way, photograph the damn thing with my digi-cam and prep it for posting that way. Thus why it looks like crap. I get on AIM and star preping instructions to use the late update as a chance to teach Ashley how to update. I get a call from several telemarkerters in the process, interrupting me.

Then BJ calls. I'm supposed to go get him at Tomas's place, 'cause Tomas isn't there, and he has no way home from school (Tomas lives close to the high school) because his car got flooded and pushed in a ditch Saturday night on his way home. We're lucky he got out safely. They also called today to offically say his car is totaled.

So I go pick up BJ who is cranky and snappish. We go home, I contnue website prep stuff and writing instructions for Ashley. Talk to John, Michelle and Matt on AIM at various points. Dear bright spots of my day!

Now as this is going on, Dad has arrived home, he's talking to BJ through the bedrom door, and has mom on the cell phone. They're arguing about everything from dinner to hemming BJ's pants, to going out tonight to look at cars even though the lot closes in 15 minutes and Mom's still in route home. The tension from the three of them is giving me an empathic headache.

Anyway. BJ and Dad go to meet Mom at the car lot. Intsructions, finished and sent. Talk on AIM a litttle more. They arrive home, Mom and /bj are still all tense at each other. And I curse being empathic some days, because especially with my family, feelings bleed over onto me.

Anyway. It's a little better now. BJ's looking at cars online. And I'm on the opposite end of the house from everyone at the moment and considering grabbing a soda from the kitchen. It's convenient that caffiene can dull my empathic relays temporarily.

Most importantly...
My scanner still isn't working though. Any advice?
