It has come to my attention I often use slang that no one gets.
As I have used the word "dingbat" multiple times tonight and gotten confused reactions twice.

Slang. An empty-headed or silly person.

As far as i'm concerned, it derives from the saying, X has a few bats in the belfry.
It means you are crazy/silly/or maybe a few marbles short of a full deck.
