A Thought...
Aug. 21st, 2002 06:57 pmEveryone despises the idea of destiny... You see it everywhere, plastered through our media... Movies... books...
Fight the future...
Defy destiny...
But don't you see?
That which is your destiny will be laid out to happen as a natural result of the choices you would make on your own.
Don't you see?
To defy destiny is to deny yourself.
And I thought all that defying destiny crap was about not letting someone change who and what you are...
Not letting something else unnaturally control your actions.

Date: 2002-08-21 07:14 pm (UTC)I sorta view destiny as a form of religion. As I haven't found any religion I can really believe in, I really don't believe in destiny either. There's nothing there to defy, its just a set of actions, right?
Then why do I feel like I'm being, in some way, moved sometimes? . . . that's what keeps me from becoming an atheist.
Not really what you were talking about, I suppose, but it just made me think about that some more . . .

Date: 2002-08-23 06:52 pm (UTC)Maybe there is a larger being, god if you will, moving us. Maybe there isn't. I myself believe in multiple gods, because well, it is what is right with me. But that's irrelevant to my statement.
As I was trying to point out, there is a certian self-righteous indignation that leads to defying destiny, and yet, people don't like to realize it's just pride. For all we know, attempts to defy it are part of what will lead you to it. ^_~ Because it is set up to be a natural result of you. *shrug* I'm being repetitive, but I think you get the idea.
